frustrations of race luck
|
I was all over McLaren. I told my daughter all week I would go heavy on McLaren and rule the world big time. But of course when they seemed to **** in practice two I changed my mind. Oh well.
Bad days make the good ones better. I knew they were probably working the add-ons but Norris fooled me with his friday interview of complaints etc. Sometimes I think I would do better without watching practice.
Onward and upward.

the suddeness of match races
|
Carlisle I recall telling you when you failed to win any of your first three races that you would be here and you are.
Gakra I know the frustration believe me. All I can say is at least you are one of the biggest winners ever here and everyone knows it. Match racing is exciting, exhilarating and vicious.
I recall Futchi using a long-term strategy conserving energy etc to win it all last yr. While I admire you guys for doing that I can't. I fight each race like my life depends on it and don't hold back. I figure why worry about the final race when I aint never made it yet. Maybe it is because winning any match is a thrill for me as I have never achieved what you have.
Nine of sixteen upper seeds went down today. As I said these seeds mean nothing.

@CarlisleFrost I hope your predictions in the game were better than in the forum. But then I can see you won a duel that seemed to be almost impossible to win. And my seemingly comfortable position with free tyre choice and full ERS has been evaporated in less than half a minute...

My Cup adventure's gonna need a miracle to survive, as Daijhi2 went a very similar way to how I'd been planning (credit to him for the smart choices and building his ERS for it - I wish I'd built more in my wildcard match). Needing some lucky predictions and a fastest lap closer to where I predicted, or a Merc retirement, which would be a surprise, given how reliable all the top teams have been.
Looking forward to some interesting match-ups now that all the seeded teams are joining the action. I expect a LOT will have gone heavy McLaren/Mercedes on their teams, so we might not see the craziness of prior years. We'll see soon enough!

There is a simple explanation jobber - you have emerged as one of the best racing strategists on the board.
What I want to know is how come every participant in my bracket in the play-offs is a sensational competitor lol.
These seeds mean nothing. Every race is an exciting death match.

I still can't believe that my Cup team won its group. Usually I'm out of contention around Race 12 or so, and free to use the Cup team to pursue race wins. I suppose it's a nice problem to have...

Okay, I really don't experience a bad season so far, but is it just me or is the competition getting tougher every year?
CarlisleFrost 190 points!
Schumacher 173.0 average in constructors!
Arpy taking over ranks 1 and 2 in overall!
Alan_T_Riley taking number 1 seed in cup away from me even though I think my cup team is my best performer so far!
Daijhi2 taking CRL lead away from me scoring 175 points despite charging ERS!
And my 179 points and 9th place in the race were good enough for 13 points only in Heinz Prueller race series!

@CarlisleFrost Well, the shoe fits, so I will wear it, and there's no space in my shoes for two, sorry. However, if you still make it into knockout stage after such an unfortunate start, you're going to be really dangerous to everybody and I will feel safer in the other half of the table.
@Alan_T_Riley Impressive season so far, still getting better, it seems. And a contender for the race win tomorrow, too. Sadly I somehow managed to guess all but one position wrong. But I'm already happy with my choice of tyres... Prime only in team that attracts bad luck. Hoping for Ferraris to keep up the pace...

No Carlisle I did not forget. My use of the ERS was different than most folks and it makes the most sense for me now to use the last ERS in the bye week and load as much more energy as I can.
I put emphasis on the bye and maybe it was an unnecessary sacrifice but I needed the energy pts to win a certain race, or so I believed at the time.
A tip of the hat to everyone who makes it in.

Stressful F1 weekend ahead, as we enter the final group stage match-ups. Lots of people fighting for top spot in their group and a bye in the first round of knockouts and lots fighting for survival!
Chris and I certainly have nailbiters, as I expect we both need wins to progress. I'd definitely prefer to be in Alan or GaKra's shoes, guaranteed top spot and able to chill and charge ERS (looks like you forgot that bit Alan!) for the knockouts!
If I win a close one, I'll be VERY lucky that my opponent forgot to activate an extra change thing, as that's gonna cost him 5 points!

Thank you, jobber! Actually I thought of you after quali and hoped I would manage to get 187 points, so I could then come here and just say "thank you for the hint, jobber". But 180 points is really nice, too.
