2023: Extraordinary component cost adjustments after race 3
Due to Aston Martin's surprisingly strong increase in performance compared to the last season, these components were severely undervalued at PFF1. Aston Martin components were therefore used in almost all teams. Mclaren and Ferrari were too expensive at this time.
In order to still guarantee an exciting competition, there is an extraordinary component cost adjustments feature in the PFF1 rules.

With an extraordinary cost adjustment, component values (driver, chassis, engine) are adjusted without altering the team budget. Neither team gains or loses value. However, it results in some component combinations becoming too expensive for current team budgets. 5 free team changes are possible one last time after race 3.

Before the extraordinary component cost adjustments, a regular cost adjustment was made. The team budgets have risen or fallen as a result:

Drivers:
Verstappen +1 M., Alonso +1 M., Stroll +1 M., Tsunoda +1 M., Zhou +1 M., Hulkenberg +1 M., Leclerc –2 M., Russel –1 M., Albon –1 M., Ocon –1 M., Norris –1 M., Bottas –1 M., Piastri –1 M.

Team principal:
Krack +3 M., Alunni Bravi +2 M., Steiner +2 M., Tost +2 M., Wolff +1 M., Szafnauer –3 M., Stella –3 M., Vasseur –2 M.

Chassis: Aston Martin +1 M., Ferrari -1 M., McLaren –1 M.

Engines: Mercedes (Customer engine 2) +1 M., Ferrari (Factory engine) -1 M., Renault (Factory engine) -1 M., Mercedes (Customer engine 1) –1 M.

Tyres: Option +1 M., Prime –1 M.

Value changes due to the extraordinary cost adjustments:

Drivers:
Alonso +8 M., Stroll +8 M., Gasly +4 M., Hamilton +3 M., Albon +3 M., Perez +2 M., Tsunoda +1 M., Hulkenberg +1 M., Zhou +1 M., Leclerc –8 M., Norris –7 M., Bottas –3 M., Magnussen –3 M., Russel –2 M., Ocon –2 M., Piastri –2 M.

Chassis:
Aston Martin +7 M., Mercedes +4 M., Alpine –4 M., Ferrari –3 M., McLaren –3 M.

Engines:
Mercedes (Customer engine 2) +7 M., Mercedes (Factory engine) +4 M., Ferrari (Factory engine) –3 M., Renault (Factory engine) –3 M., Mercedes (Customer engine 1) –2 M.

Kind regards
Maverick

cost adjustments
I am in total agreement GAKRA. You nailed it. This has opened up possibilities for creative thinking which were precluded by the low cost of anything Aston Martin.

I am excited about the racing to come.

We all had the chance to make proposals for component costs earlier this year... I hope those who knew back then the Aston Martins would be so strong took part and proposed accordingly...

With Alonso in 64% of teams it is obvious that if no adjustments were made, everybody would be practically forced to choose him and some other Aston Martin components, hoping they will finish the race. Not much room left for strategy, so I definitely think the adjustment was necessary. It is still possible to be successful using Aston Martin components, but there might be other options, too, and we can try them out in our different teams. I totally support your decision, Maverick.

cost adjustments
Mav worked very hard with a lengthy explanation of all cost adjusments. It can be found by going back in this subject in the forum.

Sad one person thought the change only applied to him and immediately moved key info for everyone off the home page at the most critical time.

I tried to repost Mav but could not make my copy function work.

Extraordinary cost changes
While I appreciate everything you do for the website, these changes have ruined my team for the second season running.. you robbed me of Leclerc last year then he went awful after 3 races . Now it’s Alonso & Aston Martin, I chose them on pre-season testing results so their performance is no surprise.
