2023: New F1 Sprint format from Baku Grand Prix:
Formula 1 races with Sprint on Saturday:

The Qualifying on Friday will take place in the usual format, but will now determine the starting grid for then race on Sunday. The Sprint Saturday will thus now be a standalone event, with a separate qualifying session on Saturday morning determining the starting grid for the Sprint.

What does this mean for Pure Fantasy F1:

The result of the sprint race is used for the PFF1 Qualifying, like last season (guesses, PFF1 starting grid). In the PFF1 racing series, the additional points provided for the sprint are awarded.

Kind regards
Maverick

Hi Maverick,

May I suggest ... for Sprint weekends ... you provide more clarification in your reminder eMails as to what session is being used for Grid selection in the Fantasy League ... so everyone is clear.

Thanks ...

Hello Alan

The Pure Fantasy F1 rules do NOT change for Grand Prix with Sprint events.
Last season the result of the Sprint was also used for the PFF1 starting grid.

Formula 1 has changed its rules and introduced an additional qualifying session. That's why I posted this clarification.

Kind regards
Maverick

new qualifying rules
So Mav are you saying our starting grid will be different than the starting grid of the actual race?

So sorry to bury your messsage.

I am responding to our new qualifying rules for sprint race weekends. Apparently we wait till after the actual friday qualiying which is now officially for the big race sunday and then guess our starting grid for sunday and our starting grid results will be determined by the sprint race and be totally different from the actual Sunday main race event??

Anything is fine with me just making sure I get it. I feel sorry for the drivers who are now roped into a two separate qualifying event and two separate race weekend and fear they will spread this to every weekend. I certainly understand how this throws a wrench at us. This new F1 rule increases accident probabilities and will create a tremendous amount of strain for drivers. Can't wait to hear from Max; he might bolt based on some of his previous stated concerns.
